Natural Rockbridge River Trip in Hocking Hills

One of the most immersive ways to experience the Hocking Hills is by paddling on the Hocking River. The Natural Rockbridge begins just across from one of the nine Hocking Hills State Parks—specifically, the Natural Rockbridge Park. This stunning natural arch spans over 100 feet in length and is 10 to 20 feet wide, gracefully arcing 50 feet across a ravine. It is considered the most significant natural bridge in the Midwest. Rockbridge does not go over the river. It is a short hike from out put-in.

After visiting the Natural Rockbridge, your adventure continues as you paddle along seven magnificent miles of the Hocking River. Many of these miles wind through the state preserves surrounding the Natural Rockbridge. Feel free to stop at any sandbars along the way for a swim. Additionally, bringing a cooler with snacks is a good idea, as there are no places to buy food or drinks during your trip. The average water conditions are about three to four feet. You can explore the river in a canoe, single kayak, or tandem kayak.
