Why Choose Us

Why Choose Hocking Hills Adventures?

We know you have many options when booking your family vacation or outdoor adventure. Here’s the top 10 reasons why you should choose us:

Experience

We were the first company in the Hocking Hills to see tourism as viable resource. When we opened in 1976, the area’s major industry was manufacturing. Three decades later tourism has become the most important commerce. Today the industry empowers over 100 businesses and employees over 982 people. We have been owned and operated by the same owners for 40 years.

The Best Equipment

We are proud to offer the best brands in the paddlesports industry. We only use Jackson, Old Town and We-no-nah canoes and kayaks. The Old Town Discovery canoes have comfortable backrests at no additional cost. Also we have a great selection of kayaks, perfect for the beginner or the novice kayaker.

Location

Hocking Hills has become one of Ohio’s top tourist destinations. It is easy to see why since the area has nine breathtaking state parks that link hundreds of trails together. In addition to the parks, Hocking Hills has grown to include numerous outdoor activities including canopy tours, ATV rentals, horseback riding and bicycle trails. With so much to do being centrally located in the Hocking Hills is ideal. Our combined 200 acre facility is within minutes of the most popular state parks and outdoor attractions.

Affordable

Why not be the family hero since our prices are so affordable? Kids 10 and under are always FREE with adults at Hocking Hills Adventures to canoe. Kayak trips start at $30. If you gather a group together of 10 or more you can book a 10% discount on our website or call us.

Special Packages

Extend your stay in the Hocking Hills. Walk-ins bring a receipt from another adventure (camping, zip line, Eco-tours, rock climbing). If you adventure at one of our fellow Hocking Hills Tourism Association Members we will give you 10% off your visit to us.

Riverside Campground

You will not find a more pristine and natural campground in the Hocking Hills. Our Riverside Campground borders the Hocking River in a heavily wooded 83 acres. Most sites have access to swimming and or fishing. The campground also provides a private beach area for our customers. If you are looking for a campground that provides a total outdoor experience we have the campground for you!

The Best Trips

The best Hocking River trips means a slowly increasing distribution of miles and time to ensure you get the adventure that is right for you. Crocketts Run to Livery is 5 miles and 1-2 hours, Natural Rockbridge to Livery is 7 miles/ 2-3 hours, Rivers Edge Campground to Livery is about 9 miles and is 4 hours. You can enjoy a full day of canoeing with Ohio’s Largest Natural RockBridge Preserve located directly across from our Trip 2 Launch.

Family-Owned

There is a difference between being family owned and being operated by an outside corporation. Outdoor adventure is not only what we do, it is all we do. Every decision is made by us with our customers in mind. More than likely you will meet the people that have worked hard to keep the canoe livery in operation for so long. You can even engage in conversation on why they started the canoe livery. (What the heck were they thinking?)

Facilities

Facilities are important. We can accommodate any group of any size. We have two modern shower houses and two picnic pavilions free of use to all of our customers.

Quality Customer Service

So What? Every company has some sort of equipment, every company has a “location” and every company has a “facility”. If all the above are the same, then one aspect stands out: customer service. Hocking Hills Adventures believes that since canoeing and kayaking are fun, service should be offered that way too. We will not put your in front of a generic safety video before your departure; instead we prefer hands on instruction, passionate canoeists teaching you the basic paddle techniques, the type of wildlife to expect and everything in between. On the shuttle to river destinations, we discuss historic landmarks, the Natural Rockbridge and the Hocking Canal. Customer service starts before you sign up for a trip, before you set foot in the parking lot and before you make the initial reservation. Customer service starts the minute you find out about us. We strive to answer all emails and phone calls within the same day and provide you with the best information so you can make the most of your time in the Hocking Hills, even if it is not booking with us.
